At the Livestock and Dairy Development Department of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, we are committed to building a resilient, sustainable, and prosperous dairy sector. As part of our transition towards Climate-Smart Livestock practices, we are focusing on improving animal productivity—which not only boosts farmer income but also significantly reduces the environmental footprint per liter of milk produced.

To achieve this, we are proud to run a landmark subsidy project designed to help our local farmers upgrade their herds. Under this initiative, we are facilitating the purchase of 3,500 high-yielding cows by providing a 50% financial subsidy of up to PKR 200,000 per farmer. By investing in superior genetics, we are ensuring that our farmers get more output with optimized resource use, adapting better to changing climate conditions.

We are thrilled to share a recent milestone: through this ongoing initiative, we have already successfully assisted 2,000 farmers in purchasing high-yielding dairy heifers! This massive step forward is already helping families across AJK transform their livelihoods and secure a greener, more productive future.
