Welcome to the Livestock and Dairy Development Department’s initiative for Free Vaccination against highly contagious and economically devastating diseases such as Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), and Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). Our department is committed to the well-being of the livestock population, which forms an integral part of our rural economy and food security.

About the Diseases

Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)

A viral disease affecting goats and sheep, characterized by fever, sores in the mouth, diarrhea, and pneumonia. It is particularly devastating for small ruminant farmers.

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)

A highly contagious disease affecting cattle, sheep, and pigs. It results in loss of milk and meat production and can quickly decimate livestock populations.

Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD)

Affects cattle and is characterized by nodular lesions on the skin. Besides being painful for the animal, the disease can result in a loss of productivity.

Why Free Vaccination?

• Control & Eradication: These diseases are not only harmful to animals but also have a profound economic impact on farmers and the nation. The free vaccination program aims to control and eventually eradicate these diseases.

• Food Security: Healthy livestock are crucial for food security, particularly in rural areas where animal farming is a primary source of income.

• Public Health: While these diseases primarily affect animals, controlling them also has positive implications for human health by preventing the contamination of food sources.

How to Avail Free Vaccination

1. Locate the Nearest Livestock Center: Use our center locator tool or call our helpline to find the nearest Livestock and Dairy Development Center.

2. Documentation: Bring any identification or registration documents for your animals.

3. Scheduling: Vaccination drives are regularly organized. Call to schedule an appointment or check if a camp will be organized in your vicinity soon.

4. Post-Vaccination Guidelines: After vaccination, you’ll receive a vaccination certificate and guidelines for post-vaccination care.
